Native Instruments The Mouth Crack [PORTABLE] - SoundCloud[^3^]

The concertina, diatonic and chromatic accordions and the melodica are all free-reed instruments that developed alongside the harmonica. Indeed, the similarities between harmonicas and so-called "diatonic" accordions or melodeons is such that in German the name for the former is "Mundharmonika" and the latter "Handharmonika," which translate as "mouth harmonica" and "hand harmonica." In Scandinavian languages, an accordion is called variants of "trekkspill" (pull play) or "trekkharmonika" whereas a harmonica is called "munnspill" (mouth play) or "mundharmonika" (mouth harmonica). The names for the two instruments in the Slavic languages are also either similar or identical. The harmonica shares similarities to all other free-reed instruments by virtue of the method of sound production.

The didjeridu (did-jury-doo) is possibly the most ancient woodwind instrument known to man. The native Aborigines of Australia use the didjeridu in religious and traditional ceremonies, accompanying dancing, singing, and other percussion instruments. Many consider its soothing drone to be spiritually revitalizing and harmonizing with mother earth. Although originally made of tree branches hollowed out by termites, the didjeridu can now be found in bamboo, plastic, teak, and even cactus.

"I was still getting used to the Canon. My fingertips had gone numb from holding the shutter down," she remembers. Holding her large flashlight over her head, it required multiple attempts to get a clear view of the snake still stuck inside the frog's mouth. "When I finally cracked off the shot it felt like victory."
